Eric weighed over 300 pounds, had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and his doctor told him he would be dead in 5 years unless he changed. They suggested a dog. Eric went to the Humane Society Silicon Valley and said he wanted an obese, middle-aged dog, so they would have something in common. What happened next transformed their lives.

Eric was an overweight, middle-aged man who realized one day that he needed to make a change. He met with a nutritionist, who told him to adopt a dog because it would force him to go outside and get moving. Eric decided to adopt a dog he had some things in common with - age and weight. He met Peety, an overweight, middle-aged dog, at the shelter and they both knew they were meant to be. Over the course of the following year, Eric and Peety made drastic life changes and got healthier.
