Cost per night: $765 and up. Famous guests: The Chateau Marmont has been a haunt for Hollywood greats dating back to the days of old Hollywood, Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. More recent celebrity guests include Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore, Ashley Greene, Lady Gaga and Reese Witherspoon.








Hotel: 'Scarface' villa, Santa Barbara, Calif.

Cost per week: $10,000. Famous guests: Al Pacino starred in the 1983 movie 'Scarface,' where he arrives in Miami a refugee and rises to become king of the cocaine trade with a gorgeous home to call his own. Though the house is located in Coral Gables, Fla. in the film, the villa where 'Scarface' was shot is actually in Santa Barbara.

Cost per night: 330 euros and up. Famous guests: Deceased singer Michael Jackson made headlines in 2002 when, while staying in this hotel's Presidential Suite, he dangled his baby over the balcony railing to show his son to fans waiting below.

Cost per night: $300 and up. Famous guests: Author Stephen King was staying in The Stanley's room 217 when he woke from a nightmare with a terrible feeling. He immediately began to write 'The Shining' in his head.

Cost per night: $209 and up. Famous guests: John Lennon and Yoko Ono occupied rooms 1738, 1740 and 1742 of this Montreal hotel during their famous 1969 bed-in for peace. The anti-war anthem 'Give Peace a Chance' was recorded in the hotel room during their peace-in.

Cost per night: $6,000. Famous guests: Many celebrities have made The Dorchester home while in London. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor honeymooned in the $6,000-a-night Oliver Messel suite in 1964, while Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey have also stayed.

Cost per night: 505 pounds and up. Famous guests: The Goring Hotel is where Kate Middleton and her family stayed the night before she wed Prince William and became Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The Middleton family stayed in the recently renovated, and aptly named, Royal Suite.

Cost per night: $279 and up. Famous guests: Iconic actress Marilyn Monroe lived at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for two years in room 229. The room is now dubbed the "Marilyn Monroe Suite" and includes photographs of the famous blonde.
