Top 10 Best Xbox 360 Games In 2014

Even if the next gen consoles have been launched and millions of units have been sold worldwide, the Xbox 360 still stands strong. With games being launched throughout the year and many more to come in 2015, Xbox 360’s lineup of games is more than impressive. However, not every single self-claimed AAA title is worth owning. There are quite a few subpar games that are barely worth even half of their selling prince but this is not the focus of this top 10. This year will be an interesting year for previous generation console owners so with no further ado, here are the top 10 Xbox 360 games in 2014.

10. The LEGO Movie Videogame

When it was first announced, “The LEGO Movie Videogame” seems more like an upcoming B grade game that aims to squeeze more money out of the franchise. However, now that gamers and critics managed to get a look at it, things do not that bad. The LEGO Movie game is a fun game packed with many funny moments, great voice acting filled with jokes and clever lines and an intuitive gameplay that recommend it for both young and the elderly. Its graphics are more than satisfying with decent textures and models. The story on the other hand, is not that impressive but in the end, the game was built to offer a goofy story filled with stereotypes inspired by some of the world’s most popular comic book heroes.

9. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

The sequel for the original Castlevania game promises to bring an epic story to everyone’s living room. Just watching the trailer will get everyone to want to play it but does the title deliver? There is no doubt that there was a bit of an artificial hype around the game but Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is an Xbox 360 title worth owning. It delivers stunning graphics even on this old console hardware but the game impresses mostly through its story and gameplay. This action-adventure saga continues the story of count Dracula, also known as Gabriel Belmont who wakes up sometime in the future. Players will have to face new challenges and help the vampire reacquire his old powers.

8. Pac-Man Museum

Pack-Man Museum does not bring anything new to the table. The fans of the series that look for a new game will be disappointed but collectors and the ones that didn’t play a Pac-Man game will surely enjoy this title. Pac-Man Museum is actually a collection of games starting with the original 1980 version to the latest title released in 2010. It is a great compilation of games with great replay value. It is one of those games that people will enjoy playing with their friends or just try to bust the numbers and beat some high-scores.

7. The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 – Smoke and Mirrors

The Wolf Among Us is a five episode series created by the same team that released the 2012’s game of the year, The Walking Dead. Just like in the previous episode, The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 – Smoke and Mirrors is a story driven survival shooter covered in high quality cartoon-like graphics. The game’s main target is a manure audience that enjoy a well written story that is actually influenced by the game’s decisions. It offers great replay value due to the multiple endings and possible ramifications of the story.

6. World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition

World of Tranks is one of the most successful free-to-play games on PC and recently it made its way onto consoles. The Xbox 360 Edition offers similar features and almost identical gameplay when compared with the PC version. Players are able to use real money to buy premium features, tanks and boosts. Even if some might call it a “pay-to-win” game, its gameplay focuses heavily on individual skill and strategy. On top of that, the replay value of the game makes it a great pick for all console owners that want a free game. It can deliver hundreds of hours of pure tank battles.

5. Strider

When it comes to remakes and remastered editions, people tend to be skeptic and there is a good reason. Most projects that attempted to resurrect an old franchise ended up failing. Strider on the other hand manages to prove that it is possible to bring an 1989 game back to life. This fighting side scrolling game delivers great gameplay mechanics, loveable characters and beautiful environments that will require more than 20 hours to fully explore. The publishers made the game available as a digital download only and can be found in the Xbox store.

4. The Walking Dead: Season Two Episode 1 – All That Remains

The Walking Dead Season One managed to grab the title of game of the year in 2012. Some might be even tempted to say that the game series is more successful that the TV show. Needless to say, Telltale Games decided to release the second season in 2014 to continue the saga. Not much has changed in terms of gameplay, graphics or features but the aspect that makes this game great is the story, the voice acting and the characters.

3. South Park: The Stick of Truth

The recently released South Park game is not for everyone. In fact, some of its scenes were banned or censured in certain countries but that does not make it a bad game. Players will find themselves laughing for hours while listening to the silly conversations, cheesy jokes, ironical comments and the hilarious situations that they will encounter in single-player mode. The developers sprinkled puzzles throughout the game just to provide some form of challenge in completing the game.

2. Earth Defense Force 2025

It might not have the most original title for a game but that should not be a turn off. The game is a sequel for Earth Defense Force. This hardcore shooter equips the player with a wide selection of weapons in order to complete various missions. Players will be able to blow up entire buildings, destroy colossal robots and vaporize giant insects. It is packed with action delivered at a very alert pace. From a technical perspective, the game looks gorgeous with its high-polygon models, high-res textures and unique environments.

1. Dark Souls II

Some felt a bit disappointed by Dark Souls II. The original delivered a story driven RPG that was just too difficult for casual players. The sequel is more casual friendly but it still comes with the same epicness and a ridiculous number of hours required to complete the single-player campaign. Gamers will always find something to explore, a quest they missed or an item that they really want. Combined with an intriguing and captivating story, excellent voice acting, amazing artwork and environments, Dark Souls II earned its number one spot in this top 10.
