Giant pandea faces extinction in two to three generations


They look great don't they? It's very unfortunate that pandas face threat of extinction. Great panda's conservation status is endangered. Though there is controversy about the exact number latest research done by developed DNA analysis shows that there are 2000 to 3000 great pandas living in the wild. Number of pandas living captivated is about 300, most of them in China, great panda's homeland.
Great panda lives in a very limited area, a few mountain ranges in Central China are home of pandas. They live in high attitudes. Because of increasing population and developing economy of China their natural habitat is narrowing.
Good news is due to efforts made by Chinese Government like gun control and removal of residents near to habitat of great pandas, number of them is slightly increasing. It's even considered to put pandas in classification of vulnerable species that represents a better situation than endangered species.
